Motion City Soundtrack is an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1997, known for their pop punk and emo sound, often featuring a Moog synthesizer. The band's lineup includes vocalist and guitarist Justin Pierre, lead guitarist Joshua Cain, keyboardist Jesse Johnson, bassist Matthew Taylor, and drummer Tony Thaxton. Over their career, they have released seven studio albums, with their debut, "I Am the Movie," in 2003, and their breakthrough album, "Commit This to Memory," in 2005. Their music often explores themes of anxiety, alienation, and self-destructive behavior. After touring heavily and becoming a staple of the Warped Tour, they signed to Columbia Records for "My Dinosaur Life" in 2010 but returned to Epitaph Records for "Go" in 2012. The band disbanded in 2016 but reunited in 2019, releasing their seventh album, "The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World," in 2025.
